I was born with my father’s name,
A Gypsy man my mother claimed.
Big divorce changed all that,
(And) another man tried to wear his hat.
It was all so strange to this boy of 5,
and it brought a tear to my eye.
They told my Dad to stay away,
(But) before he left he had this to say.

Chorus:
Don’t worry now my son, just go day by day.
Don’t worry now my son, everything’ll be o – k.
Don’t worry now my son, we’ll be together some day.

On that journey from boy to man,
I found my Dad in another land.
We talked of love, we talked of life,
We talked about what’s wrong & right.

(Well) just as soon as we got close,
The cancer changed him to a ghost.
He made it until Christmas Day,
But before he died he had this to say.

Chorus

People came from far and wide,
To pay respect when my Dad died.
At the church we heard Reverend Ray,
Tell us all that his soul was saved.

The spirit lives, or so they say,
For those who learn to see the way.
And now I’m sure his soul was saved,
‘Cause now & then I still hear him say.

Chorus
