Lyrics
It’s a harsh old world out there today,
The journey’s tougher every day.
Hard choices, feel the pain,
And the chaos and the change.

Chorus:
A couple of lines,
and she thinks she’ll be fine.
Just one more hit,
just one more fix.

Just a paycheck away from the street,
The company owns you, feel the heat.
Too much work, not enough play,
Gives you working blues, without enough pay.

Chorus

Look in that mirror, are you all there?
Will you make it? Do you care?
Are you with it? hear the sound,
Listen closely, you’re inner bound.

Chorus

Song NotesThis song (my only reggae tune) was written about someone who was going through some problems. I was trying for a different, softer approach to reaching people and it worked in this case. I actually thought the song would end up on some network television program special about dealing with drugs. — Kenny Butterill
