Press Release: Released November 23, 2013
Canadian Songwriter/Producer KENNY BUTTERILL to play The Ugly Mug on December 4th, 2013
“Kenny Butterill is a gentle, country and blues songwriter-producer molded from the same elements as J.J. Cale … he’s original, sensitive, perceptive, warm and above all memorable … he’s got the stuff” said Barry Hammond of Penguin Eggs. On Wednesday December 4th, Fiddling Cricket and the Canyon Acoustic Society are pleased to present Kenny Butterill in concert at 7:30pm at The Ugly Mug in Soquel, CA.
Butterill will be joined by his Santa Cruz, CA band that includes local favorite Harpin’ Jonny. “There is a time in every artist’s career when they are at the top of their game. For Kenny Butterill that time is now!” says Brent Jeffries, freelance writer for The Sun Times, Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada where Butterill performed earlier this year.
Sometimes compared to JJ Cale, John Prine and Gordon Lightfoot, Butterill’s rustic, minimalist music is richly textured but never over-produced. It has a warm ambience with an up-close personal vibe with just the right feel and groove.
At this special concert Butterill will be unveiling – for the first time – some new unreleased songs from his upcoming CD “Troubadour Tales”. Join us for an intimate evening with Kenny Butterill.
Tickets for the show are $10 at the door. Doors open at 7:00pm.
Location: The Ugly Mug, 4640 Soquel Dr. Soquel, CA 95073
