Recording artists KENNY BUTTERILL & WASHBOARD HANK to play Frog Ponds Café on July 4th
On Thursday, July 4th the Frog Ponds Café in Owen Sound, Ontario is proud to present Alt-Country recording artist Kenny Butterill in concert at 7pm. “Butterill’s music is a soothing, melodic blend of alt-country, Americana folk blues that conjures up lots of easily identifiable feelings and imagery. Comfortable music that feels good.” Sometimes called the ‘romantic poet of Americana Music” his brand of radio friendly “rootsy, folksy, bluesy, music” has endeared him to markets all over the world.
In this rare performance Butterill, the Northern California-based Canadian will be joined in concert by his main guitar sideman Dave S. Davis from Santa Cruz, California and the legendary Washboard Hank from Peterborough, Ontario who will also dazzle the crowd in the second set of the evening. Washboard who has performed at festivals, shows and house concerts for over 20 years is an engaging artist, has a unique instrumentation and style of music captivates audiences. If you’ve seen Washboard Hank you know you are in for a truly wild entertaining set – guaranteed!! If you have never seen Washboard Hank you are in for a real treat!
A while back, Butterill’s single “How Far Can We Go?” became the first Americana-format song to crossover and become and become a #1 Country hit in European Single charts after spending several months in the Canadian Country charts. Sometimes compared to an eclectic blend of JJ Cale, early Dire Straits, Gordon Lightfoot, John Prine, Townes van Zandt and Tony Joe White, his music is richly textured but never over-produced. It has the warm ambience of an intimate setting with an up-close personal vibe. Butterill will unveil two new unreleased songs at this concert just for the Frog Ponds Café audience. This will be your last chance to see Butterill in Eastern Canada in 2013.
