KENNY BUTTERILL’S ‘BALSAM LAKE’ INCLUDED ON DEBUT AFIM AMERICANA SAMPLER
More on AFIM “Get Your Kicks” Americana sampler

Nashville TN, April 25, 2000 – Almost as if on cue as a follow-up to his substantial welcome by European radio programmers and audiences, Canadian transplant songwriter/producer Kenny Butterill has been asked to be a part of the notable Americana CD compilation “Get Your Kicks.” The project is a sampler being manufactured and marketed by the Americana SIG (Special Interest Group) of the Association For Independent Music, the largest trade association dedicated to independent artists, labels and distributors, and is scheduled to be introduced at the AFIM convention in Cleveland May 3-7.

“Get Your Kicks,” the first ever AFIM member SIG release, showcases a variety of established and up and coming artists from Americana music, with influences including the country, folk, blues and bluegrass genres. Twenty artists from 17 different labels including Larry Cordle, David Holt, Last Train Home, Doc Watson, Jerry Reed and Trout Fishing In America will join Butterill, whose contribution is the sentimental favorite “Balsam Lake” from his debut CD, “NO ONE YOU KNOW” (No Bull Songs Records). Butterill’s inclusion reflects soundly upon the mature and accessible style of writing that is his signature. According to Sony/Sweden executive Peter Holmstedt, “This man’s songwriting is absolutely amazing! He’s up there with Tony Joe White and J.J. Cale. No One You Know is a GREAT album!”

Butterill is an independent alt.country artist of great substance whose work is fast becoming a part of the musical fabric of the world. He is hoping to duplicate his European success with “NO ONE YOU KNOW” as it hits the streets in the United States today.

Fred Vail, the “Get Your Kicks” executive producer and chairman of the AFIM “Americana” SIG notes, “We’re pleased to have Kenny’s music included in our first Americana sampler. His blend of country, folk and blues is well suited to the overall texture of the album.”

“Get Your Kicks” is the first sampler in a series showcasing important artists from a variety of Americana influences. The sampler will be marketed not only to Gavin Americana panel stations, but also to AFIM member national and regional distributors, one-stops, national talent agencies, trade and consumer press representatives and key retail accounts such as Borders, Tower Records, Newbury Comics, Musicland, Media Play, Wal*Mart and Sam Goody. Print ads supporting this project will show up in Dirty Linen, No Depression and the Gavin Report.
